About Coach Matt Kofler
Former Mesa College Head Football Coach and former NFL quarterback Matt Kofler on Coach Kofler, 49, passed away in December 19, 2014 in his El Cajon home.
Coach Kofler, a native of Kelso, Washington, had called San Diego home since 1973. A graduate of Patrick Henry High School (1978), Kofler was an All-American quarterback for Mesa (1978-79) and played for San Diego State (1980-81) before joining the NFL (1982-85) as a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts. He returned to Mesa in 1998, where he has served as Professor, Offensive Coordinator, Director of Recruitment, and Head Football Coach. Coach Kofler was in his third season as Head Football Coach at Mesa College at the time of his death, on December 19, 2014 in his El Cajon home.
