Assault with a Deadly Weapon at 7-11 on Genesee Ave

Synopsis:
The victim, a 44 year old white male, got into an argument with Christopher Alvaras, a 21 year old Hispanic Male. The suspect was accompanied by three other males. The incident occurred inside the 7-11 Store. The clerk inside the store evicted the suspect and his three companions from the store.

Alvaras and his companions waited for the victim to exit the store. Alvaras then attacked the victim with a roofing hatchet.  Alvaras then fled the scene with his companions in a green Honda Van.

About 20 minutes later the van was spotted by Officers in the 1600 block of G St. Alvaras was standing next to the van and he was take into custody without incident. He was positively identified during a curbside lineup. Alvaras was booked into County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim sustained a 1 1/2 laceration to the back of his head and he was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Northern Detectives responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation.
