City of SD, seeking District 6 nominee for Community Forest Advisory Board!

The Community Forest Advisory Board-CFAB has a vacant position representing District 6. Do you live in Clairmont, Kearney Mesa, Mira Mesa or Rancho Penasquitos-Park Village? Would you join a committed Board to advocate for urban forests and trees in the City of San Diego?  Molly Chase, of Interim Mayor Gloria’s office, has requested nominations and Councilmember Lorie Zapf (and her staff Kenny Nakayama) has not yet identified someone to serve from District 6. Would you forward this to your colleagues and neighbors, with a personal invitation to contribute to our City’s trees and our quality of life? If interested, contact Kenny Nakayama at kpnakayama@sandiego.gov or 619-236-6616.

The Board meets the second Wednesday of every month, from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building (next to the Council’s chambers); the next meeting is on January 8 (great chance to meet current Board members and get a sense of our meetings!).  Board responsibilities include preparing a comprehensive urban forestry master plan and tree inventory; reviewing urban forestry related policies and programs; networking with other boards, agencies and community residents; sharing information and promoting volunteerism; reviewing the implementation and compliance with urban forestry policies and programs; seeking funding for the establishment and sustaining of an urban forestry program; and promoting and fostering a strong sense of community through urban forestry.
