San Diego Police Investigate Homicide in Linda Vista

On Friday, November 8th at 4:46 p.m., the San Diego Police Department Communications Center received a call of a shooting at the Linda Vista Community Park located at 7064 Levant Street.

San Diego Police officers arrived within minutes and found one male with gunshot wounds. San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel arrived on scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

SDPD Homicide Unit detectives were called out to the scene to investigate this incident. Through witness statements, detectives learned two separate groups of young men were at the park near the basketball court.

The two groups got into an argument which turned into a fight. A park staff member saw what was going on and told the groups he was going to call the police. Minutes later, the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect fled from the scene prior to police arriving.

The victim has been identified but his identity will not be released pending family notification. He is described as a 19-year-old Asian male.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 15-22 years of age.
