Unknown Suspects Wanted for Theft and Credit Card Fraud Targeting La Jolla Area Grocery Stores Up to $1,000 Reward Offered
On April 9, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., a victim was shopping in the produce section at the Trader Joe’s located at 8657 Villa La Jolla Drive, in San Diego. The victim was approached by a female who started asking her questions about the produce. While the victim was distracted, another female removed the victim’s wallet from her purse, which was placed inside the shopping cart. Both females left the store. The victim then realized that her wallet had been stolen. The victim’s stolen credit card was used to make purchases at a Target Store.
On April 22, 2015, at 12:00 p.m., a victim was shopping in the produce section of Sprouts located at 3358 Governor Drive, in San Diego. A female approached the victim and began a conversation about produce. After a few minutes of talking, the female left the area. The victim then realized her wallet was missing from her purse, which was placed inside the shopping cart. The victim’s stolen credit card was used to make purchases at a Target Store located at 8257 Mira Mesa Boulevard, in San Diego.
Suspect Description: In both cases, the female who starts the conversation is described as Black and in her early 20’s. There is no description of the second female who actually takes the wallet. The suspects may be driving a dark colored sedan.
