“Members of the Clairemont Community,
We would like to apologize for cancelling the Clairemont Community Plan Update workshop on such short notice. You have a critical role to play in the community planning process and we want to make sure we are giving you and your neighbors ample opportunity to participate.
Several new citywide housing reforms were announced at last month’s State of the City address, resulting in questions about how that would impact the planning process going forward. We chose to postpone the workshop until more specifics are available so the session is as productive and meaningful as possible.
We felt comfortable with that decision because we are offering a new opportunity to have your voice heard. The City will be launching a new online engagement tool next week to help encourage more public participation. We will notify you once it is available. Together with other existing outreach efforts, this online platform will support the community planning process by capturing a broader universe of input and priorities from residents – including those who wouldn’t be able to attend a workshop.
Once the feedback is compiled, we will come back to the Clairemont Community Planning Group to share the results and receive additional input from community members in a workshop setting. We are excited about this new tool that’s going to enhance the planning process for all neighborhoods, including Clairemont.
Our department will be working with the Clairemont Community Planning Group to reschedule the workshop for a later date.
Thank you for your understanding.
Mike Hansen
