Homicide in University City via SDPD

On Monday, July 8, 2019 at about 6:13 am, the San Diego Police Department’s
Communication Center received a call regarding a person not breathing at a residence
located on the 5300 block of Bothe Ave.

San Diego Fire Department Paramedics and San Diego Police Officers arrived on scene
and located a 56-year old white male with trauma to his upper body. The male had
obvious signs of death and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics.
San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene. Although it is very early in
the investigation, we have learned the victim resides at the residence with a 57-year old
female and her 34-year old son. There was some sort of altercation between the 34-year
old son and victim.

The victim has been identified as 56-year old Kevin Crosthwaite of San Diego.

The son has been identified as 34-year old Brandon Ganskow and is the suspect in this
case. Ganskow was booked into jail on July 8, 2019 for murder and his arraignment is
scheduled for July 10th at 1:30 pm.
