Nightly southbound vehicle traffic routed to I-805 October 21, 22; routed to I-5 October 23, 24
The U.S. General Services Administration announces the nightly closures of southbound Interstate 5 (I-5S) between SR-905 and the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry (LPOE) from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., nightly, on October 21 and 22, 2019. Alternately, the southbound Interstate 805 (I-805S) will be closed between SR-905 and the San Ysidro LPOE from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., nightly, on October 23 and 24, 2019. These lane closures are part of the San Ysidro LPOE modernization and expansion project.
In order to complete construction, including lane striping and installation of roadway signage, GSA will detour traffic to the I-805S freeway via the SR-905 connector for the first two nights; and, alternately, detour traffic to the I-5S freeway via the SR-905 connector for the third and fourth nights. The Camino De La Plaza southbound I-5 freeway on-ramp will be closed during this same time frame.
Travelers are advised to plan ahead for potential delays, monitor media and traffic reports, and adhere to posted signage which announces changes to freeway patterns on affected roadways. Southbound traffic through the San Ysidro crossing into Mexico will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during these detours.
