Bike to Work Day 2013

Bike to Work Day Offering Riders Free T-Shirts, Snacks & More

More than 8,000 bike riders countywide are expected to take to the streets for Bike to Work Day, rescheduled for this Friday, May 30, due to the recent wildfires. Riders will be greeted by volunteers at a record 97 pit stops throughout the region, where they will receive free refreshments, t-shirts, and plenty of encouragement. All pit stops will be staffed between 6 and 9 a.m. Some open as early as 5:30 a.m., and others will re-open in the afternoon to serve riders returning home from work. Some of the stops will offer extra incentives, including bike gear makeovers, bike tune-ups, free massages, and merchandise coupons. In advance of Bike to Work Day, SANDAG recently updated the interactive Regional Bike Map, which highlights more than 1,340 miles of bikeways.

The Clairemont Times Bike to Work day pit stop will be located at the end of Santa Fe Street, beginning at 5:30 am, where the road ends and Rose Canyon Bike Trail join.  This is our 2nd year and we are excited about seeing old faces as well as new.  We’ll have some tools and air for those who may need an adjustment.  Also, there will be fruit, water, snacks, giveaways, photo ops & coffee.  We are excited to have KIND Snacks join us this year as well.  See you on Friday!!!
