PARTIAL INTERSECTION CLOSURES, LANE CLOSURES, AND MORE
Beginning September 7, intermittent partial closures will be in place along Genesee Avenue in support of Trolley bridge construction. Crews will install pre-cast girders, which are large beams used to support the Trolley bridge. The girders will be placed on top of the columns to build the viaduct, which is the bridge structure that will carry the Trolley along its alignment.
Various traffic controls and partial closures will be in place along six different intersections of Genesee Avenue over the next several weeks. Partial closures will be scheduled at the following intersections: Regents Road, Eastgate Mall, Executive Drive, La Jolla Village Drive, Esplanade Court, and the UTC Transit Center.
The following partial closures will be in place from Friday, September 7, to Thursday, September 13, at the intersection of Regents Road and Genesee Avenue:
- Weekend closure from 9 p.m. on Friday, September 7, to 5 a.m. on Monday, September 10:
- Full closure of southbound Genesee Avenue lanes and Regents Road intersection
- One lane open on northbound Genesee Avenue
- Weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day:
- One lane open on southbound Genesee Avenue
- Two lanes open on northbound Genesee Avenue
- Right turn lane maintained on Regents Road
- Weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night:
- Full closure of southbound Genesee Avenue lanes and Regents Road intersection
- One lane open on northbound Genesee Avenue

Lane Reduction on La Jolla Village Drive
Crews will restripe lanes on La Jolla Village Drive beginning September 9 between Costa Verde Boulevard and Executive Way, reducing the number of lanes in both east and westbound lanes. This work is required in order to complete Trolley bridge construction. The lane reduction will be in place 24 hours a day and is anticipated to be in place through mid- to late-2019.
