Mesa College Radiologic Technology Program Pins 24 Graduates

July 30, 2013 – Twenty-four newly minted graduates of the San Diego Mesa College Radiologic Technology program will participate in a special pinning ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, August 2, at Mesa College.

The ceremonial pinning is held each August following final clinical practice commitments, and marks the completion of the rigorous, 24-month program.

At least 75 percent of this year’s graduates will move directly into employment in their clinical practice settings following program completion.

Clinical practice partners (and future employers) include Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Scripps Mercy Hospital, Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Rees-Stealy, Mira Mesa, Tri-City Medical Center, Veterans Administration San Diego Medical Center, UCSD Medical Center, UCSD Thornton Hospital, UCSD Women’s Center and Palomar Medical Center.

“The public can be assured that graduates from the San Diego Mesa College Radiologic Technology Program are the absolute best,” noted Lori Covington, program director.

For the last two years, 100 percent of Mesa graduates passed the ARRT National Registry Exam examination, which is required in order to seek employment.

Radiologic technologists and technicians were listed among the 2012’s Best Performing Jobs for Associate Degrees by Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. (EMSI). The report highlighted the year’s best-performing jobs by growth and income that require either an associate’s degree or a postsecondary vocational award (PSV).
