805 Closure Tuesday Night

Construction crews will close southbound Interstate 805 (I-805) from Interstate 5 (I-5) to La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road tomorrow, December 8, from 9:30 at night until 5 Wednesday morning to accommodate construction related to the I-805 North Express Lanes Project. During the closure, crews will pour concrete for a bridge deck as part of work to add carpool lanes.

During the closure, detour signs will be posted directing motorists to southbound I-5, then eastbound on State Route 52 (SR 52) to northbound or southbound I-805.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions.

Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from SR 52 to Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project includes construction of a Direct Access Ramp to and from southbound I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Additional improvements include bridge widening and ramp modifications.

Improvements to I-805 will help accommodate the projected population and employment growth in the region by connecting employment and activity centers including offices, shopping centers, recreational facilities, communities, and schools. The construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and TransNet Extension funds.
