James Madison High School annually serves 1,200 students in grades nine through twelve. In its 55th year of service, James Madison High School occupies a 50-acre campus and is dedicated to providing all students with the tools necessary for lifelong learning.
On May 30th, to kick off the school’s spirit week, Warhawk Week, recently Councilmember Chris Cate, James Madison High School students and teachers, and the Clairemont Hills Kiwanis Club dedicated and unveiled streets signs at two (2) intersections for the newly-renamed Warhawk Way.
Councilmember Chris Cate, the City of San Diego, the Clairemont Hills Kiwanis Club, and James Madison High School faculty have been working together for several months to change Kesling Street to Warhawk Way. The street renaming pays homage to James Madison High School’s mascot, a warhawk, and celebrates the many contributions James Madison High School students have made to the greater San Diego community.
“Warhawk Way is a wonderful way to acknowledge alumni, while endowing future generations,” stated Councilmember Chris Cate.
Through the City of San Diego’s Community Projects, Program & Services (CPPS) Funding Program, Councilmember Chris Cate’s office allocated $1,172 for costs associated with renaming the street and installation of the new signs.
