The Stanley Cup is Making a Stop in San Diego

The San Diego Ice Arena (SDIA) is excited to announce that on Friday, June 30, 2017, the Stanley Cup along with Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman and former SDIA player Chad Ruhwedel will be visiting the rink between 8 am and 10 am.
Ruhwedel played 34 regular season games and 6 playoff games helping the Penguins secure their second Stanley Cup in as many years, bringing the franchise total to five cups.
Ruhwedel played at SDIA from 1995 to 2002 under the guidance of Danny How and Jay Park before climbing the ranks of Junior hockey, eventually landing a scholarship at UMass Lowell. He signed his first NHL contract with the Buffalo Sabres in 2013. In July of 2016, he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
This marks the first Stanley Cup for an SDIA alumni, and the organization is excited to welcome Ruhwedel back home to share in his monumental achievement.
