San Diego Gulls 2017-2018 Schedule Announced

Gulls begin season on the road at Tucson Oct. 7 with Home Opener Oct. 13 vs. Texas 

pr The American Hockey League (AHL) recently announced the complete regular-season schedule for the 2017-18 AHL campaign. The San Diego Gulls, primary AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL), will open the season on the road for the first time in club history on Saturday, Oct. 7 versus the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes) at Tucson Arena (7:05 p.m. PDT). The Gulls will return home after the single-game trip at Tucson to host the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) on Friday, Oct. 13 for the Home Opener at Valley View Casino Center (7 p.m.).

The Gulls will host 11 different Western Conference opponents at Valley View Casino Center as part of their 2017-18 schedule. The club will play 58 games against the Pacific Division’s other seven clubs and 10 inter-conference games against four teams from the Central Division. San Diego will have 22 home weekend dates, including 11 Friday night games and 11 Saturday contests. The Gulls will also play 19 sets of back-to-back games throughout the season.

San Diego’s 12-game season series with the Ontario Reign (Los Angeles Kings) begins on Friday, Nov. 3 at Valley View Casino Center (7 p.m.) and heads to Citizens Business Bank Arena the following night on Saturday, Nov. 4 (6 p.m.). The Gulls will also host the Reign on Nov. 11, Dec. 22, Feb. 17, March 2, and conclude the Southern California rivalry with a home-and-away matchup on April 6 at Ontario and April 7 in San Diego (7 p.m.).

San Diego’s inter-conference schedule will see the Gulls host two new opponents for the first time since the club’s inception in 2015, with visits from the Chicago Wolves, the AHL affiliate of the newest NHL member club Vegas Golden Knights, on Jan. 10 (7 p.m.) and the Cleveland Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets) on two occasions, including Mar. 6 and 30 (both 7 p.m.). The Gulls will host the Iowa Wild (Minnesota Wild) on Feb. 6 (7 p.m.) while the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators) will visit San Diego on Mar. 16 (7 p.m.) for the first time since 2016.

Additional highlights include San Diego’s annual Veterans Day game vs. Ontario on Nov. 10 (7 p.m.), a day-after Thanksgiving game vs. the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton Oilers) on Nov. 24 (7 p.m.), a St. Patrick’s Day game vs. Bakersfield on March 17 (7 p.m.) and the final regular season home game on April 11 vs. Tucson (7 p.m.).
