Chocolate, a 10-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, is looking for a calm home to give her all the love she’s been missing. At first glance, you may see a shy, senior dog with a few scars to match her age; but once you get to know her, we guarantee you’ll see so much more. Chocolate was rescued by our Humane Law Enforcement team after spending her entire life outside on a heavy chain, with limited human interaction. She was in rough shape when she first entered our care, but her medical team worked as quickly as possible to help her feel better.

Now that she has had a chance to recover, we’ve seen this shy, fearful girl blossom into a very affectionate companion. She takes her time getting to know new people, but once she feels comfortable, she loves to snuggle close and give kisses. She walks loosely on her leash, takes treats gently from her caregiver’s hand, and will even gallop in the play yard when she’s feeling silly. Chocolate deserves a very special home with a family who can be extra patient with her as she adjusts to her new surroundings and spoils her with all the love imaginable!

Her adoption fee includes her spay, current vaccinations, permanent microchip identification, 30 days of worry-free medical insurance from Trupanion Insurance, a certificate for a free veterinary exam, and a license if residing in Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, San Marcos or Poway!

Chocolate is available for adoption at the San Diego Humane Society’s San Diego Campus at 5500 Gaines Street. To learn more about making her part of your family, please call (619) 299-7012.
