Shooting Near 7-11 on Clairemont Drive

664/187 PC Attempt Murder

The suspect was out front of 7-11 charging his cell phone. The victim an 18 year old male and his girlfriend shows up at the 7-11 and the girlfriend goes inside. The victim gets into an argument with the suspect over the suspect checking out his girlfriend. The suspect tells the victim, let’s go behind 7-11 and settle this.

The victim’s girlfriend exits 7-11 and they start walking home. They get across the street and the suspect confronts them in the parking lot. During the argument the suspect takes out a handgun and shoots the victim once in the chest. The suspect and girlfriend start to run home but the victim collapses in the street.

The suspect runs southbound Clairemont Drive then runs back northbound.

ABLE (Airborne Law Enforcement SDPD Helicopter) arrives on scene and follows the suspect. ABLE directs officers to the suspect’s location where he is taken into custody without incident. The victim is transported to the hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

The suspect a Hispanic male, 18 years old, 5’8″ and thin build. Dressed in a white shirt, dark pants and light colored backpack.

Gangs were notified and North detectives are investigating.
