Memorial Day Reminders from the San Diego Police Department

Police Blotter: Clairemont Times

The San Diego Police Department is preparing for the Memorial Day holiday weekend as large crowds are expected to enjoy our local beaches and bays. Police will be increasing their staffing levels and focusing their efforts on public intoxication and DUI drivers to help keep the streets safe. Officers will also be on boats in Mission Bay ensuring Boating under the influence and boating safety laws are enforced.

San Diego Police recommend the following tips to help you have a fun and safe holiday weekend and avoid being cited:

  • Parking lots will be full and traffic will be congested. Please plan to arrive early and anticipate the delays.
  • If you plan to have a bonfire, it must be in a designated fire ring. The flames cannot exceed twelve inches in length from the top of the ring.
  • There is no smoking on the beaches, bays or boardwalks and there are no dogs allowed from 9am-6pm with the exception of Dog Beach in Ocean Beach and Fiesta Island in Mission bay.
  • Leave the alcohol and glass bottles at home as they are illegal on all our city beaches.

Lastly, don’t forget to take everything with you when you leave to help keep our beaches clean.
