Hall and Oates in San Diego

Hall and Oates in San Diego

by Bartley Stratton

On Tuesday, October 28th, I turned 28 years old.  My golden birthday request was to see Hall and Oates.  On Saturday, October 25th, that wish came true when they performed at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre.  My parents, brother and I decided to make a night of it.  We went to Fig Tree Cafe in Hillcrest for an early dinner before the show.  It was fantastic!  The roasted beet salad and fig tree pizza were highlights of the night.  After being given a lovely birthday treat and singing “happy birthday” we were off to the concert.

Hall and Oates were incredible performers.  They sang all their big hits such as “Maneater”, “Sara Smile”, “She’s Gone”, “Rich Girl” and more.  The outdoor venue was perfect for a “fall” night.  Let’s be honest, San Diego feels like summer all the time!  The band did two encores and I for one was on my feet dancing and singing the night away.  It was a perfect birthday celebration!
